Dogs

OUR APPROACH

We get the tails wagging

Rex, Tyson, Fido…small dog, medium dog, big dog….small dog that thinks he’s a big dog...all of them will leave the clinic having received the best possible care.

Our veterinarians have decades of experience (that’s centuries in dog years) and are always learning new tricks. With the latest equipment at their fingertips, the fantastic team can do whatever is needed to make sure your canine friend is in tip top condition.

It all starts with ‘puppy love’. Puppy's are susceptible to a number of nasties, such as parvovirus, and will need a number of vaccines for the best start in life. We don't just stop at caring for your puppy's health, Puppy Schools are held regularly in Invercargill, Winton and Gore. This is a great way to bond with your new buddy, learn to guide your dogs behaviour and even teach him/her a few tricks.

During the course of your dogs life, you’ll need to make sure your furry friend gets regular check ups and is treated for worms, fleas etc. And if you are heading away on holiday and putting your dog in kennels, we can make sure the necessary paperwork is up to date and your friend is protected against kennel cough.

Accidents happen to everyone and your dog will be no different. But you can feel safe and secure in the knowledge that should your dog be involved in an accident, our vets are backed by the latest technology. A modern, fully equipped surgical suite can handle both routine and more complicated, emergency procedures.

Our retail store has a wide range of food to keep your dog healthy and maintain a well balanced diet for their life stage, breed and activity levels. We also have lots of friendly staff who can offer advice on the best choices for nutrition and care. A microchipping service ensures that your dog will be identified if found and we also have a wide range of petware available for dogs. Your dog's dental health is also very important to us, plaque and tartar build up can lead to gingivitis, (inflammation of the gums), potentially causing periodontal disease (bacterial infection). Periodontal disease left untreated can cause bad breath, teeth loss, inability to eat and damage to internal organs. We are able to routinely check your dog’s mouth and keep it clean and healthy using modern dental equipment to do so including an ultrasonic scaler and polisher.

If your dog has to stay overnight or board with us for a while they can keep warm and snug in our large kennel area with heat pump on climate control. Our nurses will make them feel at home and give them the cuddles and walks they will be missing from you.

PUPPY PRE-SCHOOL
